Abstract
A method for the determination of the distribution of the substituents in sulfoethylcellulose, synthesised from cellulose and ethylenesulfonic acid by a Michael reaction, involves hydrolysis with 1.2 M perchloric acid, and analysis of the resulting mixture of glucose and its sulfoethyl derivatives by high-pH anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection.
