Abstract
Picornaviridae represent a large family of single-stranded positive RNA viruses of which different members can infect both humans and animals. These include the enteroviruses (e.g., poliovirus, coxsackievirus, and rhinoviruses) as well as the cardioviruses (e.g., encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV)).
