Forty-nine samples from an 11 m section of the Salt IV Formation of the Tertiary Mulhouse Basin (Alsace, France) covering six different lithotypes (marl, nodular, lenticular, laminated and massive anhydrite, halite) were analysed for hydrocarbon biomarkers.
