The cell walls of the fresh water green microalgae Tetraedron minimum, Scenedesmus communis and Pediastrum boryanum are composed of highly resistant, non-hydrolyzable aliphatic biopolymers as revealed by 13C-NMR, FTIR and thermal and chemical degradations.
