Logistiek in een zorgomgeving: Cliënt centraal

Abstract

Healtcare logistics: A client-centered perspective Although they may have significant needs, most clients/patients have limited influence over how their healthcare is delivered. The needs of clients/patients can be translated into logistical and organizational design requirements. The logistics control should be adapted to the needs of patients/clients. What type of needs are we dealing with in healthcare situations and how do they interact with other healthcare-specific aspects of organization? In other words, what is specific about healthcare logistics? This article describes the search for an integrated answer, and produces the following definition of healthcare logistics: the control of treatment/care/support processes and the related staff planning, information and flow of goods in such a way that client’s/patient’s needs will be met cost effectively. Furthermore, a conceptual framework is developed, which shows the relationship and interaction between the healthcare context and logistics.

Logistiek in een zorgomgeving: Cliënt centraal Patiënten/cliënten hebben veelal beperkte invloed op zorglevering en zorgverlening, terwijl zij daar wel behoefte aan hebben. De behoefte vanuit de patiënt/cliënt om invloed uit te kunnen oefenen op het zorgproces laat zich vertalen in een logistieke ontwerpeis. De logistieke sturing zal moeten inspelen op de wensen van de cliënt. Maar om welk type wensen gaat het in de zorg en hoe verhouden ze zich tot andere zorgspecifieke ontwerpvariabelen, of anders geformuleerd, wat is specifiek aan de logistiek in een zorgomgeving? Dit artikel beschrijft de zoektocht naar een integraal antwoord voor de Nederlandse situatie met als resultaat de volgende definitie voor logistiek in een zorgomgeving: het zo beheersen van behandel-/ zorg-/ondersteuningsprocessen en de daarmee verbonden inzet van medewerkers, informatie- en goederenstromen, dat tegen optimale kosten aan de wensen van cliënten/mensen kan worden voldaan. Tevens is een model ontwikkeld, waarin de zorgspecifieke context en de samenhang met logistiek wordt gepresenteerd.
