Recommended dexamethasone dose for epidural administration: response to the comments of Koetsier

Abstract

We thank Koetsier for his comments. Indeed, the dose of dexamethasone may be a point of discussion. The authors ask to review the recommended dose of 10 mg based on the study of El Abd et al.1 where 15 mg is used for cervical transforaminal epidural injections and 20 mg for lumbar epidurals. This study has, however, as objective to study the immediate and acute adverse effects after transforaminal epidural steroid injections.
