The hormone auxin regulates growth largely by affecting gene expression. By studying Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) mutants deficient in AUXIN RESPONSE FACTORS (ARFs), we have identified three ARF proteins that are required for auxin-responsive hypocotyl elongation.
