The vowel alternation of the type Tsez absolutive buci, oblique stem bece- ‘moon’, which is observed frequently in nouns in the Dido languages, can be reconstructed as a Proto-Dido alternation of rounded vowel (in the absolutive) and *ɨ (in the oblique stem).
