Abstract
A stylistic analysis of the novel highlights its rhetorical inflation and its way of imitating Giraudoux’s aesthetics, but it also shows an ironical dimension. This article proposes to demonstrate that La Madone des Sleepings is a typical kitsch product of the so-called Années folles, made of overcharge and (unbearable) lightness.
