SUMMARY: Three movements were important for the colourtheory in Western-Europe in the period 1200-1500. The Augustinism [Robert Grosseteste, bishop of Lincoln (1170-1253) and John Peckham (ca 1215-1292)]. Grosseteste was influenced by Averroës.
