Abstract

Between learning, critical science and enterprising research. Knowledge and identity in the Maastricht Centre for Gender and Diversity In this article the permeability between 'science' and 'society' is demonstrated in the form of an auto-ethnographic description (a Limburg's diary) of the author's activities as associate professor in the Center for Gender and Diversity at Maastricht University during the month of August 200t. Many of these activities reflect the author's efforts to integrate her knowledge of gender and science into policy making practices with regard to women in science and gender and science. The diary shows that in doing so, the author - like her colleagues in the interfacultary Center- combines several 'academic identities': that of the well-known discipline-oriented scholar, the business and policy oriented researcher and the critical social scientist.
