Abstract

In this bibliography of professor Snelders's work the items have been arranged according to the type of publication: books (A), inaugural orations (B), articles in international volumes (C), articles in international journals of history of science (D), articles in volumes in Dutch (E), articles in Dutch journals of history (of science) (F), biographical entries (G), popularizing articles (H). All book reviews and some obituaries have been omitted. In the introduction the items have been arranged according to Snelders's fields of interest: Romanticism and Naturphilosophie (1), physiological and physical chemistry (2), the reception of new scientific theories, especially in The Netherlands (3), chemistry in The Netherlands (4), theories of matter from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries (5), agricultural chemistry (6), organizational aspects of scientific research (7), various topics like history of instuments, formation of disciplines and science in its social context (8). The last field is exclusively studied by his students ('promovendi'). In all fields dissertation research (‘promotieonderzoek’) and Ph.D.-theses studied and written under the guidance of Snelders are mentioned.
