The determination of 4-methyl-2-thiouracil in animal blood, urine and faeces

Abstract

A method is described for the determination of 4-methyl-2-thiouracil in blood, human urine and hen's excreta. In the determination in the excreta a suspension of these excreta is dialysed for 12–24 hours against acid water and the determination is carried out in this acid water, as always with the aid of Grote's reagent.

This method was applied with good results in later studies on the metabolism of methylthiouracil in poultry.
