Accepted 31 March 2000 Description: PCR primers were selected from the bovine sequence for the acidic a-glucosidase gene1 (GAA) (GenBank accession no. AF171666). Two pairs of primers were chosen from exon 2:intron 2 (GAA-E2 and GAA-I2) and exon 9:intron 9 (GAA-E9 and GAA-I9) for mapping on a bovine somatic cell hybrid panel2. At least one intronic primer was chosen to ensure bovine specificity. For linkage mapping on the international bovine reference panel (IBRP)3, primers GAA-E14 and GAA-E15, which flank a silent mutation in exon 15 (C2025T)1, were selected.
