Gamma-ray branchings in 34Cl from the 33S(p, 34Cl γ) reaction

Abstract

The gamma-ray yield from the reaction 33S(p, γ)34Cl was measured in the range Ep = 300–1300 keV. Twenty-two resonances were observed with resonance strengths (2Jr + 1)/ΓpΓγ|Γ between 0.01 and 1.0 eV. From single and coincidence spectra with scintillation spectrometers the gamma-ray branchings of the resonance levels and of nineteen lower levels in 34Cl were obtained. The decay of the levels of 34Cl below 2.5 MeV is compared with spin predictions from the shell model.
