Decay scheme, spin and parity of the 3.13, 3.29, 3.41 and 3.51 MeV levels in 31P

Abstract

Measurements of spectra, linear polarization, angular distributions and correlations of gamma rays from the 30Si(þ, γ)31P reaction at resonances below Ep = 2 MeV provided information on the decay scheme, spin and parity of the levels 31P* = 3.13, 3.29, 3.41 and 3.51 MeV. The following branching percentages were observed in the decay: 3.13 MeV (γ0 100%), 3.29 MeV (γ1 82%, γ2 18%), 3.41 MeV (γ1 100%), 3.51 MeV (γ0 70%, γ1 + γ2 30%). The mixing parameters of the gamma rays de-exciting these four levels have also been determined. Spins and parities are as follows: 3.13 MeV J = 1/2, 3.29 MeV Jπ = 5/2(+), 3.41 MeV Jπ = 7/2(+), 3.51 MeV Jπ = 3/2(+).
