Abstract
The infrared and Raman spectra of Ni3TeO6 and Mg3TeO6 are reported. The TeO6 groups can be considered in good approximation as independently vibrating groups. Using crystallographic data a complete assignment is possible. The frequencies of the TeO6 vibrations in Mg3TeO6 are at higher wavenumbers than in Ni3TeO6.
