Abstract
Intercellular communication is initiated by the release of
neurotransmitters from the presynaptic nerve cell, i.e. exocytosis.
Therefore, the strength of the presynaptic signal is determined by the
type of neurotransmitter released, the number of neurotransmittercontaining
vesicles that fuse and the amount of neurotransmitter
released per vesicle. Consequently, modulation of the presynaptic
signal plays a crucial role
