De relatie tussen sociale fobie en verticaal geïntegreerde identiteit bij adolescenten

Abstract

Objective: This study examined the relation between social phobia, vertical integrated identity and gender in a sample of adolescents from the general population. Method: About 1500 high-school students participated by filling in the SCARED and the SCIQ. T-tests and an hierarchical regression analyses are used to compare mean scores and search for relationships between the variables mentioned above. Results: There was a difference between boys and girls for social phobia. This difference was not significant for vertical integrated identity. The relationship between social phobia and vertical integrated identity is found, but the interaction-effect with gender on this relationship was not significant. Conclusions: This study confirms the idea that girls have more social phobia than boys. There can be concluded that vertical integrated identity is the same for boys and girls. The relationship between social phobia and vertical integrated identity is discovered.
