De relatie tussen integratie van werk in het gezinsleven en de tevredenheid over de ouder-kindrelatie bij Nederlandse tweeverdieners en hun schoolgaande kinderen

Abstract

The current study conducted a research on the relationship between the integration of work and family and the satisfaction about the parent-child relationship. Due to the positive development of communication technology the integration of work and family is more common now, than ever. Past studies do not give one conclusive answer to the question how integration is related to the parent-child relationship, which is an important aspect for the development of the child. This research is conducted with 261 Dutch dual-earner couples. The control variables in this research are satisfaction in occupation, satisfaction in the partner relationship and the total amount of working hours for both parents. The current research did not find a relation between the integration of work and family and the parent-child relationship. Although it did find that, partner relation satisfaction was an important predictor for a high score on parent-child relationship satisfaction.
