Elementary, My Dear Watson: A Study of Changing Dynamics of the Relationship Between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

Abstract

This Bachelor Thesis researches the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson throughout the ages, specifically with regard to the original Arthur Conan Doyle fictional writings compared with the contemporary BBC Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock and John respectively. It discusses the views of homosexuality in nineteenth century and contemporary Britain, and then focuses on three Conan Doyle stories which are the respective originals of the adaptations by the Sherlock television series.
